THE TRUTH IN THE WORD

Lord

Lord

By Clarence Andrews

Lord you never condemned me whenever I slipped and fell,

But those around me judged and sentence me to an eternity in hell.

Never once did you loose your love for me,

Not like my wives whose love was never meant to be.

You knew me, understood me, and you stood by me when no one would,

My eyes are open to who you are and my heart knows you for all your good.

Some don’t really know you as I have come to know,

And some can’t really show you, that love that’s meant to grow.

What can I compare to you Lord? Is it the sea, a woman, or even a star?

But I know that nothing can compare to you because they all tell who you are.

Lord, what excuse can I ever give you when I’ve turned away from your face,

I just look for your hand to guide me, back to your saving grace.

There’s not a day that goes by that you don’t cross my mind,

And when I need a word from you, it’s in prayer I’ll surely find.

With each day I’m reminded that I’m not perfect in any way,

And because of the love you’ve shown me, it makes me want to stay.
